Adonis
1709
Oil on canvas, 28.74 x 33.46 in
Monogrammed and Dated on the back

Stylistic characteristics, the distinctive nature of the figure, the monogram featuring the artist’s initials, and the date 1709 allow this canvas to be attributed—without a doubt—to the early career of Sebastiano Galeotti, an artist of considerable interest, particularly within the painting landscape of north-central Italy during the early eighteenth century.
