In Florence in 1820, Bezzuoli decorated a room in the family palace for the Marquis Orazio Emilio Pucci, painting in buon fresco three episodes from the love story of Angelica and Medoro. According to the scholars and friends who commemorated the artist in 1855 with a biographical text intended to celebrate his work, the background of the room depicted Love in a chariot drawn by swans. However, while the frescoes on the walls, depicting Angelica Healing Medoro’s Wounds, Angelica’s Departure from the Shepherd’s House, and The Loves of Angelica and Medoro, enclosed in elegant white and blue panels in the Wedgwood style, have been praised and given careful critical interpretations in art literature, both of the time and contemporary, the decoration of the ceiling has never been mentioned; a silence that casts doubt on the actual creation of the fresco.
